The University of Pennsylvania is proud to once again host the Penn Relays School Days Program at the 115th Running of the Penn Relay Carnival. The 10th annual Penn Relays School Days Field Trip will take place on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24, 2009.

Children from Philadelphia and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to see the finest track athletes in the world compete, spend a day on an Ivy League campus, enjoy an education assembly, visit the Penn Museum, and enjoy all the excitement and fun that makes the Penn Relays such a special Philadelphia tradition.

New this year!  School Days has teamed up with the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology for some exciting new opportunities!  For those attending the relays on Thursday, April 23 there will be a scavenger hunt starting at 11 a.m. around the museum for students to participate in.  This will give your group the chance to see some of the museum's exciting exhibits.  On Friday, April 24 there will be an assembly at 11 a.m. by USA Track & Field and a presentation on the Ancient Olympics.  After the assembly there will be a scavenger hunt around the museum for students to participate in.  Both events are free for School Days participants.  (Times subject to change)

Sponsored by Penn Athletics and the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News (in conjunction with the News In Education (NIE) program), each student that attends the Penn Relays School Days scavenger hunt and assembly will receive a packet of educational information about the Penn Relays & Penn Museum that includes lesson plans about the history and orientation of track and field.  Teachers can also order the packet for their classes directly from the NIE program.

A year ago, more than 5,000 students from 139 area schools in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey took part in the 2008 Penn Relays School Days Program at the 114th Running of the Penn Relay Carnival.

Tickets for School Days participants are only $5 if purchased by Wednesday, April 1 and just $8 after April 1 until Friday, April 17.
